Community

You don't have to figure this out alone.

Praxis is built around a simple idea: artists who share what they know help each other go further than any of them could go alone. The community is where that happens.

Global Community

Artists in the Praxis community are everywhere

Praxis connects artists across regions and disciplines. The blue markers show mapped artist profile locations, with additional markers representing our wider international community.

How artists grow together at Praxis

1.
Members share what actually works.

Not theory. Not inspiration. The grant application that won. The email to a curator that got a response. The pricing structure that finally felt right. Praxis members share real materials from their real careers — and the community gets smarter together.

2.
Everyone is at a different stage — and that's the point.

A photographer five years into their fine art practice knows things that a photographer just starting out doesn't. A painter who has worked with galleries for a decade has navigated situations that a painter in their first exhibition hasn't. The range of experience in the community is one of its most valuable features.

3.
The Roundtable brings the outside world in.

Curators, collectors, gallerists, and critics from major institutions have spent evenings with Praxis members answering the questions artists are not supposed to ask out loud. That archive is available to every member — and the conversations continue in the community forum.

4.
Medium-specific knowledge is shared openly.

Painters face different challenges than photographers. Sculptors face different challenges than performance artists. The Praxis community organizes around those specific challenges — and members help each other in ways that are relevant to the actual work they're making.

“The art world has always had an unofficial curriculum. Praxis makes it explicit — and makes it available to every artist, regardless of where they live or who they know.”
— Brainard Carey, co-founder
